Hi, I'm Michael Porter. I was born in 1960, and life has not turned out how I expected. A lot of good things have happened, don't get me wrong. I have a lot of beautiful things and people in my life, and, at 56 I did not expect to be an employee at a company with no future. I did not expect to feel as though I was being short changed by life, and that I hadn't accomplished what I wanted to. I know lots of fellow baby boomers who are winding down about now. Either retired or looking forward to it, figuring that their active life is about over. I just can't go there. I have this feeling inside me that despite the fun adventures I've done, my best adventures are still in the future.
Oliver Wendell Holmes said "Don't die with your music still in you" He said most people spend their lives getting ready to start living.
My music is to some degree still in me. My aim with this blog is to inspire and guide us who still feel our music in us to wake up and live life for as long as we're still breathing.
I've been to too many websites that want to tell me what's wrong with me and why I feel this way, but you know what? I've spent too many years listening to normal people tell me what they think I should be, and too many years trying to conform to what others think.  I am ready to be my true self, and I welcome messages and comments from others who want to take the same journey. I will get up on Monday morning and go to work. I will do my best there, but I will not try to conform to be what others want me to be. I will be my true self.
Please feel free to comment, my only request is that each of us speak from our own experience, and not argue with or insult another writer. This blog is open to anyone who feels they still have their music inside them. I may not agree with what you say or your views, but it is not my purpose to try to change you. All are accepted here. And that doesn't mean you or anyone needs to conform to a certain way of thought to be here. Whether you're religious, agnostic, atheist, conservative, liberal, straight, or gay, male or female. We don't need to hide who we are.
